201018Ju+65: Sunrise at Changi Boardwalk
Woke up at 3.45am this morning and after chatting with a few tweeples who are just turning in from a night out in town, Christel suggested to go to Changi Boardwalk. This is where the iPhone is the best companion for travelers and photographers. I whipped out the iPhone while still in bed and launch PhotoBuddy to figure out what the magic hour is and found out that I still had some time as dawn will start at around 6.42am and sunrise at 7.05am.
Finally after googling Changi Boardwalk and getting some rough idea where it is, I stumbled out of bed got dressed and headed out at 5.30am. Armed with the GPS, and driving around a little near changi village, I finally found where the boardwalk is, thanks to a tip from Nicole who was also out to capture the sunset near Punggol, I found the entrance to it. The parking was sparse but since it is in the god forsaken hour in the morning, I guess people won't mind where I park.
I whipped out the iPad again to figure the best angle to capture the sunset with the help of LightTrac App to ensure that no obstacle was in the way. A 2 hour shot resulted into pictures below. The pictures was loaded from my Canon 5D Mark 2. The sunrise photo was captured at 6.46am Aperture 4.0, EV +1, ISO 100, Exposure 6" edited using FilterStorm on the iPad. Really love that app. Will cover it in a review on the app on the tech blog later.
The second photo was taken at 7.20am Aperture 11, EV +1, ISO 100, Exposure 1/4. I thought it would look softer in black and white. Really happy with the shots although it was a little cloudy and the sun did not even show up. Now to get some breaky. Hope I get an even better shot next weekend.
